House of Northern Senses is a private lakeside venue in Kuusamo for executive meetings, strategy retreats, expert workshops and other corporate events that require privacy, focus, and an undisturbed working environment. The entire property, accommodation and shared spaces are reserved for one group at a time.

House of Northern Senses brings focused work, accommodation, dining, Finnish sauna culture and nature together in one private setting. The daily programme can be built around the purpose of the meeting without moving between separate venues.
Generous shared spaces support both full-group sessions and smaller discussions. Personal service, considered catering and private experiences help the group focus on what matters.

Corporate options for different needs
Breakfast Meeting
Breakfast and an unhurried discussion. Suitable for a small group or, by agreement, for up to approximately 20 guests.
Half-Day Meeting
Breakfast or morning coffee, workspace and basic meeting equipment, refreshments and a corporate buffet lunch.
Full-Day Meeting
Breakfast, morning and afternoon refreshments, corporate buffet lunch and an afternoon work session.
Meeting, Sauna & Dinner
A meeting day followed by the SPA sauna and dinner. For a late arrival or a lighter evening, a Sauna Buffet can be arranged.
Corporate Retreat
A two-to-four-night programme. Three nights is the recommended format, allowing two full working days.
Signature and Bespoke
The core programme can be enriched with the smoke sauna, a private experience, a selected Signature dinner or a private chef dinner hosted at HoNS.
We also arrange private meetings for 3–4 guests. The minimum charge for the package will be confirmed in the quotation.
Example of a three night executive retreat
Day 1
Arrival for lunch or dinner, opening session and SPA sauna.
Day 2
Breakfast, a full working day with meeting refreshments, lunch, sauna and dinner.
Day 3
Breakfast, focused working sessions, a selected private experience, smoke sauna and dinner
Day 4
Breakfast, wrap-up session and departure. Part of the group may continue working and stay for lunch.
This is an example schedule. The balance between work, recovery and programme is designed around the group’s objectives.
Spaces arranged around the purpose of the meeting
We plan the room setup around the objectives, working style and size of each group.
For meetings requiring uninterrupted concentration, an external facilitator or a dedicated workspace throughout the day, we recommend separating the main meeting room, dining area and breakout spaces. The main workspace then remains fully set up throughout the day, with no need to remove laptops, documents or other materials for meals. At least two separate breakout spaces are also available.
For a more informal meeting format, the dining room can be used for both working sessions and meals, while the lounge remains available for breaks, relaxation and small-group discussions.
The most suitable room setup, meeting equipment and breakout spaces are confirmed in the proposal.
Accommodation under one roof
The standard corporate accommodation capacity is up to 16 guests in eight bedrooms. Eight guests can each have a private bedroom. One accommodation unit contains two bedrooms that share a bathroom.
For groups of 9–16, some guests share a room. Extra beds or nearby additional accommodation for larger groups are planned separately.
Dining Around the Working Day
Dining is an integral part of a well-functioning event. We provide a generous buffet breakfast, meeting refreshments, a corporate buffet lunch and dinners suited to the group’s schedule. Menus are designed around the season, dietary requirements and the nature of the occasion.
Dinner may be a relaxed shared meal, a selected Signature dinner or a private chef experience hosted at HoNS. Catering can range from casual meeting meals to a high-level fine dining evening.
Three Saunas and a Fell-Lake Experience
The modern SPA sauna, heated indoor pool and sauna lounge provide an easy way to recover after each working day. The traditional wood-heated lakeside sauna and authentic smoke sauna bring Finnish lake and sauna culture into the programme.
Swimming in the lake is possible throughout the year. In winter, private ice swimming can be included in the sauna programme according to conditions and the group’s preferences.
Private experiences on the group’s schedule
One or more private experiences can be added to the retreat. Options may include a private snowmobile safari, husky or reindeer experience, ice fishing, snowshoeing, hiking or a national park excursion.
The client decides how much working time to allocate to the programme. House of Northern Senses books the selected experiences and arranges the required transfers with trusted service providers.
Surrounded by nature and easy to reach
House of Northern Senses is located in the village of Virkkula in Kuusamo, on the shore of a fell lake. The journey from Kuusamo Airport takes approximately 30 minutes. Driving time is approximately 2 hours 20 minutes from Rovaniemi Airport and 2 hours 40 minutes from Oulu Airport.
Private airport transfers are arranged around the group’s schedule. Konttainen and Valtavaara are approximately five minutes away. Oulanka National Park is about 30 minutes away, Riisitunturi National Park about 45 minutes away and Hossa National Park about one hour away.
How we proceed
1. Tell us the preferred dates, group size, accommodation needs and purpose of the event.
2. We check availability and ask only for the additional information needed to prepare the proposal.
3. You receive an initial proposal, which we develop together to cover dining, saunas, programme and transfers.
4. When useful, we arrange a video introduction or agree on a site inspection.

House of Northern Senses was awarded the Green Key environmental certification and the Sustainable Travel Finland label in 2026. Responsibility is reflected in our daily operations, purchasing decisions, preference for local suppliers and ingredients, and the way we plan each event together with our clients.
