May Day
The House of Northern Senses offers your group the best facilities for celebrating May Day on the 1st of May. At the same time it is the closing ceremony for the winter season. Enjoy beautiful, snowy and sunny spring landscapes and various outdoor activities.

Midsummer
The House of Northern Senses offers an authentic Finnish midsummer celebration in a gorgeous lakeside location. Experience the magic of the white nights and enjoy typical, local Midsummer delicacies and fresh summer drinks in our restaurant and terrace.

The midsummer sauna is part of the Finnish midsummer tradition. Our smoke sauna by the Pikku Porontima fjell lake is a true gem. There you can experience an authentic Finnish smoke sauna experience. Read more about it here.

Our wood burning lakeside sauna offers also a traditional Finnish sauna experience. The location of it right by the lake makes it is easy to jump in the fresh water of the fjell lake to cool down. Enjoy cold drinks and snacks on the terrace overlooking the lake.
Alternatively you can enjoy the main sauna in the manor, which is a stylish spa style sauna, pool area together with a lounge with a fireplace, where you can relax after the sauna or go cool down on the decked terrace.
Our location also offers excellent possibilities for outdoor activities by the lake Pikku Porontima - either on the lake or the shores of it, where you can enjoy water sports, fishing and hiking.

The manor’s crayfish season
Welcome to celebrate the crayfish season in the middle of the beautiful Finnish nature! The House of Northern Senses offers a perfect setting for crayfish celebrations with friends, family, colleagues or customers.

Finnish lake crayfish are one the best seasonal delicacies of the Finnish summer. We boil them with our own, traditional recipe. It is possible to have a sit-down crayfish dinner for up to 30 people indoors.
Crayfish in itself is a culinary experience, but we also plan the menu of the evening together with you, in order to make sure there is plenty to eat also for those, who do not eat crayfish.
There is accommodation for up to 20 people at the House of Northern Senses, so it is possible for you to enjoy the atmosphere late into the night.
The surroundings of the House of Northern Senses offer excellent possibilities for outdoor activities and admiring the nature. The summer nature is at its best around the crayfish season and you can still enjoy an almost white night.
You can also relax at the lakeside sauna, smoke sauna or the spa style sauna, pool and fireplace lounge area in the manor.

Autumn colors
The autumn colors season of the House of Northern Senses is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers. From the end of August until mid October, the Finnish nature is glowing with beautiful autumn colors. This is the season when the diverse nature has its most colorful attire: the landscape is decorated with yellow, orange and red leaves and the surface of the earth turns into unique autumn colors as well.

The House of Northern Senses offers also an excellent possibility for other autumn outdoor activities. An autumn colors hike either in the nearby nature or the Pikku-Karhunkierros trail at the Oulanka National Park or the Riisitunturi National Park is a perfect way to enjoy the autumn season. You can also enjoy the nature in other ways: for example by biking in the nature or by canoeing on the lakes nearby.
You can also go berry or mushroom picking in the nearby forests or go fishing on the lake.
The highlight of the autumn colors season are the northern lights, which are also visible already at this time of the year. You an admire the magnificient colors of the sky either from inside the manor or outside in the nature.
At the end of the day you can relax in the saunas of the House of Northern Senses. There are three options to choose from: the smoke sauna and the woodburning sauna by the lake or the stylish spa area located in the manor with a sauna, pool and fireplace lounge.
After relaxing in the warm steam you can cool down in the fresh and clear waters of the Lake Pikku Porontima.
At this time we offer autumn harvested local delicacies for lunch and dinner. For your hikes we can prepare a packed lunch or snack and hot and cold drinks in order to keep the energy levels of the day high.
It is possible to accommodate up to 20 people in the House of Northern Senses, so you can enjoy the autumn colors season for a long weekend or a whole week.

Easter
Come and enjoy Easter at the House of Northern Senses! The winter is at its finest in the north around Easter time. The days are already longer after winter with a lot of bright spring sun.

Easter is a great time to come for a holiday in the Ruka-Kuusamo area, since there is still plenty of snow around this time of the year.
The sunny spring days and white snow create an energising atmosphere to go cross-country skiing. Along the skiing trip it is nice to stop by a ski trail cafe for donuts and coffee with the sun warming the cheeks.
After an active day it is wonderful to let the mind and body relax in one of the three saunas of the House of Northern Senses: either the woodburning lakeside sauna, smoke sauna or the stylish spa style sauna, pool and fireplace lounge area of the manor.
The day will be concluded with a nice dinner at the Northern Senses Kitchen, where we serve our guests a delicious Easter dinner made with local ingredients with complementing drinks.
