Ruka offers a wide variety of activities for visitors of all ages. Choose from outdoor nature tours, sports and action adventures. There are also many enjoyable family activities, like visiting a reindeer farm.

We make it easy for you: just tell us your wishes and we will arrange and book the activities for you. We are also happy to give you recommendations best suited for your group. The experience partners have been carefully selected to offer you the best Nordic outdoor activities year-round. By booking the activities through us, you can also get discounts such as -20 % on ski rentals.

You can start the activities either right at the resort or we can organise transfers for you. Ruka Village, where the ski center and most services are located, is just a 15 minute drive away. More info can be found on ruka.fi

Activities at the House of Northern Senses

You can start many enjoyable nature and sports activities directly at the House of Northern Senses. We have and can arrange equipment for your use for mountain biking, snow shoeing and cross-country skiing. You can also do standup paddleboarding, row boating and fishing at the lake.

Multifunction space at the House of Northern Senses

The multifunction space at the House of Northern Senses can be used in versatile ways for your needs, e.g. for working out, yoga, additional space for meetings and events, karaoke etc.

In the well equipped space you can find for example workout equipment and a big TV. It is suitable for groups of 15-20 people.

Northern Lights

Ruka is a great place to see the northern lights during autumn and winter. It is possible to see them directly at the House of Northern Senses or book a guided excursion.

Husky Safari

Experience an unforgettable husky safari in the gorgeous Kuusamo winter nature with the eagerly running huskies. Our husky safari partner Erä-Susi Huskies offers a selection of husky safaris or we can tailor you a private husky safari, just let us to know your preference.

28 km long private husky safari for 4-10 adults
- Duration 4,5-5 hours
- Includes lunch and snack, warm overalls, mittens and boots
- Price 290 € / person (incl. VAT, exluding transportation to Erä-Susi Huskies and back and drinks during your safari)
Shorter husky safaris - suitable for families:
- 5 km safari: price per adult: 89 €, child 4-11 y/o 65 €
- 10 km safari: price per adult 139 €, child 4-11 y/o 89€
After driving guidance and safety instructions we will begin our journey with two people sharing a sled. The guide will lead the way either with a snowmobile or a dog sled. The sledding path is well maintained and safe with beautiful scenery all around.
Midway we will stop for a break. We will enjoy a soup lunch in the wilderness restaurant Lopotti and the dogs will get a snack.
We will continue our journey back to our starting point where we will take the harnesses off from the dogs and let them free in their kennel. You will get a chance to thank your teammates for the journey by petting them as much as you want. Pictures and videos are allowed!
At the end we will enjoy sausages, sweet buns, coffee and optionally a hot drink in the cosy hut. The guide will tell more about the dogs and you can ask questions.
